what the hell is CA doing?! How can you name a list on contracted players and then the very next tour don't pick four of them for the squad?!

WTF?! Please explain Mr Hilditch! Cos I'm absolutely stunned!

Of course I'm pretty happy that the lord of all gumby's Steve Smith has been left out. Not too happy that we're paying him $1mill for NOT playing though…

Discuss.

It just shows how out of touch CA is at the moment, I thought they"d done their worst when they dropped Katich but now they go and leave all of these players out.

I think it"s time that they scrap these CA contracts and just pay players for the matches they actually get picked for. What"s the point of having all of these players on the payroll, they"ll still be available to play if they are not contracted, and who wouldn"t want to play in the baggy green?

I"d prefer players get paid more for playing state cricket, there needs to be some form of incentive to keep players playing state cricket and raise the profile of our domestic game. It"s the only way we are going to get the best youngsters coming through the ranks and playing a decent level of cricket.

I agree, I understand that you want your elite players to not need to work and be concentrating purely on their cricket, but surely if the state cricketers are paid a decent wage then that would suffice.

That said, we certainly don't want em all pissing off the the IPL…

What is so strange to me is that we have contracted players not even getting a look in on an upcoming tour.. WTF is that all about…?!

BTW can i just put it out there that Cameron White is a total waste of space? SUCH a crap player! overrated BIG TIME.

Similar to Ben Barba for the bulldogs…

Crickets are insects that belong to the order Orthoptera and the class Insecta. Crickets are an important part of the ecosystem since they help in the breakdown of plant material. They are also an important source of food for other animals like small owls, spiders, birds, mice, shrews, snakes, frogs, raccoons and opossums. There are many species of crickets: house crickets, field crickets, ground crickets, cave crickets, mole crickets, camel crickets, snowy tree cricket and the northern mole crickets.

My thoughts exactly Turvs, he makes a good point!

Seriously though, it's great to see some of the young guns making a claim for a test team spot over in Sri Lanka, hopefully we'll see Copeland, Hughes and Khawaja get their chance as they are the future of Cricket for Australia!

So I just wanted to come back and revisit this one for a moment.

Now that we are flogging an absolutely deplorable Indian side, what do we think about the current squad?

I've been pretty impressed by our bowling effort this summer. I wonder how they will hold up against a more formidable batting lineup though. From the looks of things a rotation policy on our girly bowlers will need to be created as they're getting injured and tired very easily.

Our batting is still looking iffy. Warner is a machine and needs to be our long term opener and I've been very impressed with the way him and Cowan look together. They remind me a lot of JL and Hayden. They look like they genuinely enjoy each others company out at the crease.

Should we slot Watson back in at No. 5? Can we just take Haddin out the back and shoot him? He looks terrible at the moment, just needs to be put down.

I think Punter still needs to retire at the end of this season. We need to be looking forward to our next ashes campaign and will he still be around then? Probably not.

Thoughts? Fears? Objections?

Agree with pretty much everything there Turvs, mainly with Haddin needing to be taken out the back and shot though :P

Did you see him again missing chances in the Big Bash last night, lucky the Sixers ended up winning anyway but he may have cost them top spot.

I say give someone else a go with the gloves but I have a feeling they're waiting on Tim Paine with his injury as he will be next in line. They should give Matthew Wade a go for the T20 and One Dayers though as he could surpass Paine pretty quickly.

We have a great bunch of young bowlers and Harris, Hilfenhaus and Siddle leading the young blokes around well. When you look at it we have Pattinson, Cummins, Starc and Cutting in the mix, and that young bloke Hazlewood will likely come through in a year or two as well.

Injuries to the quicks seems to be our main concern at the moment but if, like you say, we can introduce a rotation policy for the youngsters we should be able to reduce that.

I think the middle order seems to be our biggest weakness, Clarke has shown what he is capable of now but Ponting Hussey and Haddin are all far too inconsistent. Marsh should be given a chance as even though he hasn't performed too well he has something about him that tells me he just needs time to develop.

We've got Khawaja waiting in the wings too, and Watson to come back from injury, he should slot in the middle order somewhere. I agree with Warner and Cowan, think Cowan could have a few more years left in him and then hopefully Hughes would have exorcised his demons by then and a Hughes – Warner partnership will flourish.

I think the selectors have finally got their act together and Invararity and Arthur will lead us back to the number 1 test ranking. Can't wait for next years ashes, I think we'll be ready this time!

India haven't been the best test for the side but I think confidence was the main thing we were lacking coming into this test series. We can only play what's in front of us and i've been impressed with how we have gone for the throat and never taken the foot off the pedal!
